On behalf of the MGMI , I extend a warm welcome to you all and would like to invite you to Kolkata for the 3RD Asian Mining Congress to be held for the from 22-25 Jan 2010.
You may be aware that MGMI, an eminent professional institute and the oldest professional society of its kind in Asia, organized the 1st and 2nd Asian Mining Congress in Kolkataduring January 2006 and January 2008 respectively.There was very good response worldwide for both the events. There was participation from about 20 countries spread over different parts of the world.
Concurrently with the Congress events, MGMI organised International Mining Machinery and Equipment Exhibition in Kolkata both in 2006 and 2008 in which over 65 Companies participated.
Considering the importance and the need for continuity of such efforts, MGMI Council has now decided to organize the 3rd Asian Mining Congress during 22-25 January 2010 at Kolkata. The theme of the Congress would be Resurgence of Mining in Asia: Prospects and Challenges. It has also been decided to hold concurrently an International Mining Exhibition (IME 2010) at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata.
The 3rd Asian Mining Congress aims at global participation of professional managers, policy makers, designers, equipment manufacturers, scientists, academicians etc. for finding out ways and means to ensure sustainable growth of the mineral industry in Asian Countries. MGMI expects that the Congress will be attended by eminent experts and dignitaries of the World Mining Community as well as their counterparts from the mining industries in India. There will be papers on various lead topics related to challenges being faced and likely to be faced by the industries in the years to come including issues related to environmental and social sustainability of mining.
Kolkata aptly called the Mining capital of India is a vibrant modern metropolis of 10 million plus population and is the Gateway to Eastern and Northeastern States of India. The city is well connected by international and domestic airlines and also by rail network with rest of the country. Kolkata is appropriately regarded as the cultural capital of India for its immense contribution in these fields. Kolkata has a very pleasant climate in the month of January when the maximum day temperature is around 22-240C and nights cool down to 10-120C.
